So long ago...so far away
A love so strong, as some would say.

How could it end...in tragedy
caught up in a windfall, and the powers that be.

A horrible nightmare, that seemed all too real
Caused a river of thoughts, he'd often feared.

In a moment of weakness, he turned to the dark
Not knowing the ill-path in which he'd embark.

He looked to a friend, who promised to aid
His true love and wife, he intended to save.

But, lies that were told, were taken to heart
And he learned all to late, by these lies he'd been marked.

Promised the powers to save wife and child
He became death's dealer...no way charming or mild.

For there is no glory for those who resort
To betraying their friends as the devil's consort.

The one thing "the cruel one" promised he'd give
The powers to save her, so that they might live...

Had become nothing more than oasis of fire
Brought on by misfortune and darkened desire...
